About Mrs. Newman
Mrs. Newman has been educating students to achieve excellence in writing, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary for over 30 years. As the owner of her own successful supplementary English program in Queens, she has taught thousands of children with her effective methods for writing success. She brings a unique perspective to her teaching from her experience as a former direct marketing executive with a degree in psychology from SUNY Buffalo, Phi Beta Kappa. Her grassroots work with children with learning disabilities and her keen awareness of the different ways children learn, helped her to formulate a teaching methodology that is both fun and educational for children of all ages. Her technique successfully combines classic, tried and true methods with an innovative approach, to transform your child into a skilled, more creative writer.
Weekly Classes
In Mrs. Newman’s weekly classes for students in grades 3-7, your child attends an hour and a half long Zoom session each week. Each week’s zoom session will include a vocabulary review, spelling tips & tricks, grammar & writing mini-lessons, and quizzes to track progress. Any error your child makes becomes the basis for corrective assignments that “clean up” their individual problems, whether they are in spelling, punctuation, grammar, word usage, sentence structure, or writing format.

Essay Writing Workshops
In this three-week-long writing workshop (with two Zoom sessions per week), your child will learn how to write effective five paragraph essays. They will learn a set of writing guidelines as well as the writing “do’s and don'ts.”

Private Writing Instruction
In addition to regularly scheduled classes and writing workshops, Mrs. Newman is available for one-on-one tutoring sessions as well as small group sessions via Zoom.
